Saying Goodbye

i have just watched another young person die!

You might say that i should get used to it in my profession but it never gets any easier, you nurse people , they become people u spend all your working life with, which anyone that works will know is a great deal of time.

You know their likes and dislike, u know how many sugars they take in their tea, what time they like to wake up, when they are in pain, when they need some relief from their over bearing but total loving reletives. You are close enough to know what they want and when they want it but dont care enough not to walk away when your shift is done.

They tell you and show you everything you are invited into thier very personal and itimate space and they take u in and embrace you.

People are so kind and another great one has gone, people that are 32 shouldnt die, thats only 7 years older than me and thats what brings it home to me and probably upsets me more, that sounds selfish but its how i rationalise it.

Right im away to practice my happy face to start back on the ward tomorrow!

RIP
