Well i spotted one of these on sunday night and felt very proud of myself.
Pain on inhalation and SOB and dropping SpO2 and history of having 400ml tapped off her chest earlier that day. It was late in manafesting and she had , had CXR but NAD.
A call to the HAN team, 10lts of O2 and a repeat CXR showed us a lovely wee pneumothorax
The patient was well on the mend.
Within a few days the patient went home as the air pocket had dispersed of its own accord.
note to Kal: i tried this time to put them on their injured side and the Doctor laugh as she had never heard of that in the treatment but i done it and the patient had great relief. So she thanked me for my imput and said she was going to read the first aid book as it seems to have some handy hints that arnt taught at medical school. I was very proud i had learnt that on the training weekend and put it into practice.
I also had an arrest last weekend but it far to traumatic to go into. xxx
